What is a Friend

A poem written by my father

What is a friend,
I’ll define it with care,
On one you depend,
When things aren’t fair.

If I were the friend,
I’d laugh when you’re gay,
I’ll never pretend,
In a false pointless way.

Your tears be my sorrow,
All aid I would lend,
Of me you may borrow,
I’m that kind of friend.

My father Simon would write and recite his poems during my childhood. This was a favorite of his and I do like it alot. I hope you’ll enjoy it too.
