Tiny Face

A half moon
Looks up
In delight at the sky

Whispers words
Looking out
Over an August sea

The rain falls
It runs in rivers
Cords flow over asphalt

She laughs in delight
Small face
Against the glass

Second summer
Near the ground
Beautiful sounds
Only she can hear

Beams like iron
Bake the tar
Sheets of steam to the sky

Sleepy child
Carried off
In daddy’s arms she lies
